It is for a very good cause - Ride4Kids. I am riding in the October one, held in San Antonio. I have already ridden in the Houston ride (rode up to Houston, rode in the fundraiser the next morning, and then rode back - whew!). I plan on riding up to Dallas and doing the fundraiser ride there as well. That's how much I believe in this.

Ride4Kids raises money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. There are kids out there that need our help, as well as their families. At the fundraiser, the kids come up and talk about their experiences (and/or their families do).

Please help me out with my fundraising -and thank you very much!

Harvest Moon Day!!

Polynesians summons Papa to help in all earthly matters. She is, in fact, the earth mother who gave birth to all things by making love to the sky. To this day, the earth and the sky remain lovers, the sky giving its beloved rain for fertilization and life.

Papa is sometimes known by the alternative title "Papa Raharaha, meaning 'supporting rock," through which she provides foundations and sustenance for our body, mind and spirit.

This Celtic horse goddess rides into our festival calendar today on a white mare bearing fertility, leadership and a means to get things moving where they may have stagnated.

Some historians believe the swiftness of her steed (which is white, a lunar color) alludes to a lunar goddess. In stories, Rhiannon commands singing birds that can wake spirits or grant sleep to mortals.

Seven of Pentacles

Introduction: The 7 of Pentacles is very often a card about returns on investments. This can be literal such as a bank account returning money to you, or figuratively, such as the investments of time, effort, and energy that you have put into a relationship. You will be reaping what you have sown. This is generally positive.
General: In general, you should be feeling more secure than you have in a while. Things will be moving along well, and you'll be feeling hopeful about the future - with good cause. You may have to decide whether to put your energy into the things, people, and situations that you already are involved with, or whether to spend your energy trying to bring more into your life. Choose wisely.

Introduction: The Hierophant is very much about "doing the right thing." You may be struggling with an issue and are unsure about what is "right" for you to do. Know that the answers are within you. Remember that the "right" thing is what is right for you also.
General: This is also a card that is very much about spirituality - everything from traditional religion to earth-centered spirituality and any other spiritual notion that you can conceive of. There may be a tension between your idea of spirituality and the "right thing" and the ideas of others around you. Stand up for your own beliefs. The "rules" and the "system" of doing things are probably playing a major role now. Rituals of any sort will be helpful to you now, even if it's just "a movie with friends every third Saturday."

One of the most beloved sky goddesses in Egypt, Hathor brings happiness, romance and an appreciation for musical arts into our lives. Sacred or erotic dances are a welcome offering for Hathor, as is any effort to beautify the body. As the patroness of the toilette, she also protects women and embodies the pinnacle of feminine qualities. Her favorite musical instrument, the sistrum (a kind of rattle), was said to banish evil wherever it was played.

Introduction: Justice deals with the idea of karma and the law of cause and effect, stating that all events, and all people, are connected. It's important to remember that not everything you are dealing with, however, is a direct result of your own actions or karma. Sometimes you will be called upon to deal with the results of the actions of someone you care about, and this can sometimes be as difficult and demanding as it is when you're up against something that is completely of your own making. Don't blame yourself unnecessarily.
General: This card evokes the need for fairness, balance, and harmony. Operate in as balanced and reasonable a fashion as you can. This includes in how you think about and treat yourself. If you are directly involved with a court case, it is likely to be resolved, at least in large degree, in your favor.

Work: You need to be sure that your work/life balance is where it needs to be. Too much emphasis on either throws the other into balance. For most people, one or the other comes more easily to us; be sure that regardless of which field (personal life or work) you feel most comfortable in, that you are giving the other part of life as much attention and energy. Balance is necessary in order to thrive.

Love: If you are questioning whether you and your long-term partner are likely to stay together, often when this card appears, the answer is that you are likely to choose to go your separate ways. On the other hand, if you are single, this is a time when commitment may be coming your way very shortly. Stay clear about what you most want from relationships, and you are likely to "find it" that much sooner.

Finances: This is a good time for games of chance. Very often, when this card appears in the context of money, it can mean that a (usually fairly small) "windfall" is coming your way. Even if you don't gamble in any way, money that you weren't expecting can show up now. That's always a good thing. Use it wisely.

Health: It's important to "stay in the moment" and, once again, to pay attention to how you are (or are not) keeping a sense of balance in your life. Moderation is not just for monks, it's an important part of living a sensible and healthy life. Consider how you might be "out of balance" - particularly if you have a health challenge now and remedy the situation. You have the power to do so.

Spirituality: This is a time to work on being grounded. Do you feel as though you are connected to the earth and your fellow man? Can you be "in the world" but not "of the world?" Balance again is the theme here. Working on keeping the proper perspective about life will help you to stay centered.150px-RWS_Tarot_11_Justice

Malkuth is the goddess of the tenth sephira in the Cabalistic Tree of Life. She reminds us of the need for positive actions on the physical plan, not simply good thoughts or lofty words, but to actually bring about change. Malkuth also counsels us to always balance our goddess spirituality with real life and keep peace with the earth, which she personifies.

Happy Rosh Hashana, every one!!!

Introduction: The 2 of Cups often refers to romantic partnership, but that is not its only connotation. It can speak of balance, friendship, joy, and sharing.
General: In general this is a card that says that things are likely to be going well. You should be feeling more than usually loved, cared for, and content.

Work: This shows that you are likely to be appreciated in your workplace and should be feeling comfortable there, at least to a large degree even if you don't particularly like your job. If looking for employment, this can mean that you are going to find it very soon.

Love: This card represents true love, balanced partnership, commitment, and all of the things that most of us hope for in regard to love and relationship. However, this does not mean that you can just do or say "whatever" and that your love/relationship will last; it only means that the underpinnings, the real, solid, potential for true love and affection is there. If you are "looking for love," this is a signal that it is very likely to be headed your way very soon. Relax.

Finances: In relation to finance, the 2 of Cups indicates balance and fairness. You may not be "rolling in money" but at least for the moment and the near future, you should be finding that, at bare minimum, you have more than enough money to "meet your obligations," which is a start.

Health: If you are facing particular health problems, this can indicate a need for you to find a partnership with a healer that you trust and that you can "work well" together with. This is also a fairly good omen when it comes to health - you are also likely to be keeping a positive attitude which is very important (and supportive) of good health.

Spirituality: You are likely to be feeling "at one" with the energies of the universe and with yourself. This is one of the cards that represents the heart chakra and its' opening. You should be feeling more than usually loving toward everyone and everything. Share that good energy, the world needs more of it!
